You sit there and spend all this money on capturing your big event only to find out years later that you have misplaced the video for it. Besides pictures, your video is the only thing you have to commemorate the event. Not having the video any longer can put a damper on how special it was. This is why you need to be strategic when it comes to storing your special event videos. In order to avoid losing them, you have to store them in a place where they won’t get lost or damaged. This is crucial if you want to be able to look at them years later and remember the special event. Here are some places where you can keep your videos for safekeeping.

Online

One of the best places to store your videos is online. This allows you to safeguard them for decades. Once they are published online, you can retrieve them at any time. This also means that you can allow others to check them out no matter where they are located. Having a digital file available is important if you want to make sure you always have access to the videos from your special event. There are many programs that allow you to upload them right from the CD. You can download them to iMovies, iTunes, and other popular programs designed to store your videos. You can even retrieve them from your mobile device so you always have immediate access to the files.

Safe

If you have hard copies of the video, then you want to place them in a spot where they will not get damaged. This means putting them in a place that will be protected.  A safe can be a great investment if you have several things that require protection. You will want to get a fire proof safe that won’t get destroyed in the event of a fire. This will provide you the confidence you need that your video is kept safe.

Safety Deposit Box

If you are concerned about having your special event videos at your home, you can always choose to store them in a remote location. This can be easily done by putting them in a safety deposit box. These are available through the post office and remain very affordable. You can keep other personal possessions in them. The boxes aren’t big so you want to make sure you only keep what you really need in there.

Make Extra Copies

It is inevitable that you are going to misplace things. Hopefully, you won’t misplace something as meaningful as your event video. If it does happen, you should always make sure you have additional copies in case you do lose one. You will want to keep one with your video library so you have quick access to it. Any other copies should be stored in a safe place so they can be retrieved if you do end up losing one of the videos and need a replacement copy. Â
